Guest lecture by a Clinician Scientist
On 2 December 2020, the Biology students of Grades 11 and 12 took part in a virtual lecture by Dr. Arun Prakash Budde, a Clinician Scientist.Dr. Arun Prakash Budde completed his high school graduation at National Public School Indiranagar, did his undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester, completed his PhD and MD from New York University School of Medicine, and finished his internship at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, before starting his anaesthesiology training at University of California San Francisco. During this lecture, he talked about his work on the effects of the gut microbiome on the lungs which inspired the students. He also spoke about his journey from an NPSite to an assistant professor in residence at UCSF department of anaesthesia and how his alma mater helped shape the foundation of his career. During the Q&A session, the students asked him various questions regarding his life as a physician and researcher. This was indeed a very informative talk and was an enriching experience for the students.
