March 2013
Dear Parents
We extend warm greetings and best wishes to all members of the NPS family. As we reminiscence about the growth of the NPS family, we are filled with pride that our school parents have always extended incredible support to the faculty and students. A firm parent-teacher partnership is important for a strong academic pursuit and the effective building of the character of young minds. We must be conscious of the fact that the common interest of the teachers and you is the schooling of your child and that both sides want the best for your child. Students need the support of both teachers and parents in order to succeed academically, physically and emotionally.
Our school’s philosophy is that you never can communicate too much. Fortunately, today we have technology that makes teacher-parent contact easy. In keeping with our Environment Programme, we endeavour to use less paper in order to save trees, protect the environment and preserve our resources. We print only when necessary. Hence, we have initiated the practice of keeping in touch with our school parents through the school website and email.
SOME ACHIEVEMENTS OF OUR STUDENTS
Zig Ziglar, an American author and motivational speaker, said, "Success is a personal standard, reaching for the highest that is in us, becoming all that we can be." Many of our students have reached the 'highest' in various national and international forums. We would like to draw your attention to a few of the students' success stories:
- Pranav Raghav Sood of Class 12 represented India in an International conference held in August 2012 in Kuala Lumpur. He was the youngest participant and presented his paper titled 'Bioethanol - A Viable Answer to India's Surging Energy Needs'.
- Megha Harish of Class 12 received the best student award for her contribution to the business and ethics class when she represented India at the Oxford Tradition, an academic programme for students in Class 10 to 12 in Pembroke College, Oxford University.
- Samvida S Venkatesh of Class 10 was crowned the national champion in the HDFC Life Spell Bee India 2012 and won a prize of Rs.1.5 lakhs, a trophy and a trip to watch the US National Scripps Spelling Bee.

- Tanvi Mishra of Class 6 was successfully certified for the junior black belt in taekwondo by the Bangalore chapter of the World Taekwondo Academy.
- The students of Class 6 are participating in a hands-on business experience called the Young Entrepreneurs Programme (YEP). They enjoyed 'owning' a business, producing and 'marketing' their products in Namma Puttani Sante. The students visited the Spastics Society of India, entertained their students and donated the profit of Rs.25,000.
- The students of Class 2 to 5 participated in Different Strokes. This was a fair where the students sold items which they had made with the help of their teachers and parents. The profit of Rs.30,000 was donated to Sukrupa, an NGO which educates street children.
- 92 schools from all over India participated in the Wordsmith Spell Bee National Level competition. Rohan Pai of Class 5 secured the 1st place and was declared the Spell Bee champion for the year 2012-13.
- Jasmine Sachdeva of Class 4 emerged the 2nd runner up at the Asia Junior Golf Tournament at Thailand.
As usual, every year, a large number of the students graduating from NPS get admission into the IITs and NITs and several of our students have joined various eminent medical colleges and law colleges all over India. In addition to this, many of the students have opted for higher education in universities in UK, USA and Singapore.
It is with an extreme sense of satisfaction that we place before you the All India Secondary School Examination (Class 10) and All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class 12) results of our schools. We have achieved 100% results with 90% distinction. Further, 90% of the students were placed in the A1 category.

TEXTBOOKS AND NOTEBOOKS
We have come across a large number of parents who have expressed their concern and difficulty in organizing textbooks and other materials well in time. We have made all arrangements to procure and distribute books, materials, etc. to avoid any academic loss when the school re-opens. The prescribed cost of the books may be paid in the school office as notified to the students. The schedule of issue of books will be notified separately.
APPLICATION FOR TRANSFER CERTIFICATE
We have tremendous pressure from parents seeking admission both from India and abroad. In this context, it would be appreciated if parents of wards who are withdrawing from the school from the next academic year could inform us of the same latest by Friday, 15 March 2013. In order to facilitate the smooth despatch of transfer certificates and other records, a self-addressed envelope of 10” X 14” stamped for Rs 45/- should be deposited in the school office. Any delay in the depositing the envelope may cause anxiety to the parents and inconvenience to the administration during the summer vacations.
ANNUAL FEES
The annual fees for the academic year 2013-2014 may be remitted in the school office from Monday, 25 March 2013 to Friday, 5 April 2013 between 8.30 a.m. and 11 a.m. only by banker’s cheque / pay order / demand draft.
The positive school climate in NPS is deeply anchored in the school motto: Reach Out, Reach High, Reach Beyond. We groom our students to be rooted to values such as culture, family, moral ethics, discipline and academic excellence and strive to reach their full potential so that they can attain their personal excellence. Confucius said, “The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential….these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence”.
We are also greatly pleased to inform you that NPS is consciously striving all the time to improve the professional competence of its faculty and is training them to handle modern techniques and methods of education, like Smart Board. This involves huge budgetary provision for continuous increase and escalation due to updating of faculty emoluments, replacement of computers, AMCs, service taxes and many more financial burdens. An increase in the fees is inevitable. We are sure that your support will encourage us to maintain the high standards and ideals set by NPS for its students.
We are now taking various steps to improve the standard of Maths form the primary to high school level. The programme ‘IOTA – Accelerated Math’ is being initiated and introduced in all our schools. This programme enhances critical thinking and mental agility skills in children and is comparable to various programmes practised for children in developed countries. The programme is optional for the students from June 2013. Further details will be communicated to all parents later.
Your continued support and co-operation will help us grow from strength to strength and will enable us to maintain the high level of professionalism which exists at NPS.
Best wishes
Sincerely yours
(Signed)
