21 December 2018, brought about the advent of a unique chapter in the glorious edifice called National Public School, Indiranagar. The first ever Alumni Meet ENCORE 2018, was celebrated, after more than 36 years of the founding of this institution! Weeks of planning culminated in the event being a tremendous accomplishment, in every sense of the word!

On the evening of Friday 21 December, the school ground wore a festive look to welcome the much awaited guests of honour – our Alumni! Registration of more than 600 alumni went on from 4.30 to 5.30 p.m. and even beyond! The alumni were ushered to their designated tables, which were arranged to seat them batch-wise, in order to facilitate their reintegration with their long-lost classmates.

The chanting of invocation began this momentous occasion, along with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries, to seek the blessings of the Almighty. Thereafter, a very warm and cordial welcome address by our Principal Ms Shantha Chandran, did enthuse the alumni. She took them down memory lane, recounting numerous escapades of their school days.

To further enliven the already charged atmosphere, a scintillating dance performance was presented by our students of grades 9 and 11.

In the absence of Chairman, Dr K P Gopalkrishna, who was unable to join us, due to another pressing commitment, Dr Shanthamma Gopalkrishna, Dean, National Public Schools, was in our midst, along with Director, National Public Schools and The International School Bangalore, Dr Bindu Hari, to grace this historic event. Dr Bindu Hari addressed the gathering, with an inspiring and motivating talk, encouraging the alumni to stay linked and associated with their alma mater, in the years to come.

To once again enthrall the audience, our duo of music teachers took over the stage, and took the audience by storm. Theirs was a brilliant rendition of a medley of songs. The singers were ably supported by the students’ guild of equally enthusiastic instrumentalists.

A few fun activities, comprising of games and quiz to reminisce school days, got the audience entirely involved and cheering.

The LED screens in the backdrop, were keeping the attention and excitement alive throughout the evening. With pictures and scenes of the last 36 years rolling by, it was only natural that the alumni fell in love with their alma mater, all over again!

To make memories that would be hard to get over, the main building of the school was thrown open to these august guests. A delectable dinner was served, at numerous tables lined up at the fringes of the school ground. In retrospect, we REACHED OUT to all our alumni, across the country, across the globe over a period of many months! We REACHED HIGH to attain this landmark milestone in the annals of school-history – an Alumni Meet! And we REACHED BEYOND – ENCORE 2018 was a success beyond our dreams and expectations!!!
