The Infosys Catch Them Young Program is an effort by the IT giant to inculcate computer science skills in children. The program targets students of class 8 and attracts participation from schools all over Bangalore. This year, over 300 students participated in the entrance exam held in late October. Eight students were chosen to represent NPS Indiranagar based on their academic performance to write the selection test. 4 students - Vishnu Sampathkumar, Krish Debroy, Vishal Muthuvel and Aria Narayan Vikram - were selected from our school to attend the programme based on the selection test results.
The CTY program began in mid-April and went on for two weeks. The programme focused on computer science topics like cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence. The students were also given hands-on training in programming with a variety of languages including HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP and Python. Teamwork and collaboration was emphasised throughout the programme to give students a feel for the modern workplace.
