The children in the Montessori at NPS INR were all agog as the week preceding the Dussehra celebrations saw them bringing in their Golu dolls. Many were unaware of the traditional way the festival is celebrated in the South of India.

The day dawned with double the excitement and fun as it was the end-of-term party and Dussehra celebrations at school. They walked into the school in their ethnic finery in the typical colour code of red and white. There was a buzz as they tried to spot their doll on their class's tiered display.

The children were happy to welcome their counterparts from the other classes in the building to view the Golu. Each class visited the others to see their display. They returned to a presentation showing how each part of the country celebrates the same festival in different and unique ways. The children then shared their party snacks heralding the beginning of the vacation.
